Buttermilk Brownies

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 6 tbsp canned milk

Heat water, 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup cocoa, and shortening in a saucepan and mix well. Move to large bowl and add buttermilk, eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, baking soda, and cinnamon. Add sugar, flour, and salt. Bake on large, deep, greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes. To make frosting, simmer 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup cocoa, and canned milk over medium heat. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla. Frost brownies when cool.
