General Tsao's Chicken

  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2-3 tsp chili paste
  • 3 lbs chicken breast, cubed
  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • frying oil

Mix 1/4 cup cornstarch, garlic, water, giner, sugar, 1/4 cup soy sauce, and vinegar to make sauce. Add broth. In another bowl, mix pepper, 1/2 cup soy sauce, and egg. Add 1/2 cup cornstarch. Stir in chicken. Deep fry coated chicken at 350 and drain. Add oil to wok. Stir fry onion and chili paste. Add sauce and then chicken. Serve over rice.
