Christmas Sugar Cookies




  • 1 ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla or almond extract
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 5 cups flour


Mix the melted butter with the sugar. Let cool. Add the beaten eggs, baking powder, salt, and flavoring. add the flour in one cup increments. Refrigerate the dough for at least two hours. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Divide dough into four parts and roll each part to ⅛ inch thick on a floured surface. Use cookie cutters dipped in flour to cut out shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets with at least 1 ½ inches of space between them.If you want to use sprinkles put them on before baking. Frosting should wait until the cookies are baked and fully cooled. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until delicately golden brown.
