Cherry Winks


Yields: 6-7 dozen


  • 1 ½ cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 small jar of maraschino cherries for garnish
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups corn flakes
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 tbsp maraschino cherry juice


Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream the butter and sugar. The add the eggs. Stir in vanilla, cherry juice, baking powder, baking soda, and slat. Add the chopped pecans and the flour, and mix well.

Crush the corn flakes and put them in a small bowl. Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and roll the balls in the crushed cornflakes. Place them on a greased cookie sheet and press them down so they don't roll off. Quarter the cherries and press one quarter onto each cookie. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until nicely browned.
