Buttermilk Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup cocoa
- ½ cup shortening
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 beaten eggs
- 2 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 6 tbsp canned milk
Directions
Heat water, ½ cup butter, ¼ cup cocoa, and shortening in a saucepan and mix well. Move to large bowl and add buttermilk, eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, baking soda, and cinnamon. Add sugar, flour, and salt. Bake on large, deep, greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes. To make frosting, simmer ½ cup butter, ¼ cup cocoa, and canned milk over medium heat. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla. Frost brownies when cool.
