Rich Chocolate Brownies

  • 1 ½ cups butter, cut up
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 2 ¼ cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 5 eggs
  • 6 oz bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped

Preheat the oven to 325 F. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler over barely simmering water. Remove from the heat and let cool. Beat the eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl with an electric mixer at high speed until creamy.. Use a large rubber spatula to fold in the chocolate mixture, followed by the mixed dry ingredients. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan. Bake until dry on top almost firm to the tough, 35-40. Do not over bake. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
