Plum Sweet 'n Sour Sauce


  • 1 can crushed pineapple in heavy syrup
  • 1 cup plum sauce or plum jam or orange marmalade
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup water + 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstartch


Heat pineapple (with syrup), sugar, 1 cup water, vinegar, and soy sauce to boiling. Mix cornstarch and 2 tbsp water. Stir into pineapple mixture. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Cool to room temperature. Stir in plum sauce. Cover and refrigerate; serve with almond chicken.
