My grandma Sharron first started premixing this and keeping it on the kitchen counter out of convenience. When she made it, it was equal parts of the first four ingredients below. My mom dropped the salt content a bit, and when I started making my own I eventually added the ancho chili powder.
Note: the specified types of garlic, onion, and salt here are very important. Substituting with something like powdered or garlic/onion salt here will greatly alter the ratio in an unfavorable way.
- ⅔ - 1 part Kosher salt
- 1 part course black pepper
- 1 part granulated garlic
- 1 part granulated onion
- 1 part ancho chili powder (optional)
- Dump all ingredients to a bowl and combine until thoroughly mixed.
